'The other stuff'

Rep. Mike Kelly has stated that the success of the economy outweighs the sometimes controversial actions of President Donald Trump. Kelly was also quoted in the Aug. 24 Butler Eagle, “The one thing that none of us can deny is his performance in the 20 months he’s been in office has absolutely been incredible. ... Throw the other stuff out.”

I guess that would be the 12,000-plus migrant children who have been separated from their parents. Reps. Jim McGovern, D-Mass., and Randy Hultgren, R-Ill., have condemned turning our backs on the “worst refugee crisis since World War II.”

“Part of the way you protect our homeland is by not letting children grow up in refugee camps, McGovern said. “It promotes resentment toward us. That’s where terrorism breeds.”

These people will never forget what the U.S. government has done to them not for generations or millennia. Tent cities are being built in the desert to house these children. Since the Trump/Kelly tax-cuts have the deficit spiraling out of control, the money has to come from somewhere. Apparently, $10 million came from the FEMA budget. I am sure that is setting well with victims of hurricanes in the Southeast and Florida. Also, $29 million came from the Coast Guard budget. They are the members of the military that risk their lives flying helicopters plucking people off roofs during floods, etc. Let’s hope the helicopters are up to date.

Give Ron DiNicola a shot. He is a knowledgeable lawyer, Marine veteran and Harvard graduate. I feel that DiNicola is prepared to lead, not follow.
