Bizarre incident at motel lands man in jail

Akeem Colquitt of Ohio, charged with trespass and assault at motel in Butler Township.

BUTLER TWP — An Ohio man remains jailed while awaiting a hearing next week in connection with a bizarre incident at a motel.

Akeem A. Colquitt, 30, of Springfield is accused of leaping over the front desk at the Days Inn on Route 8 south in the early morning hours of Oct. 11 and unplugging a computer.

Colquitt’s antics apparently caused a frightened night clerk to lock herself in a back room to get away from him.

A short time later, Butler Township police said, he got into a tussle with the motel manager during which he allegedly grabbed the employee’s testicles.

The defendant was wearing only sweat pants and tennis shoes, and yelling obscenities when officers arrived, according to court documents. Police believe alcohol may have been a factor.

Colquitt was arrested and landed in Butler County Prison on $30,000 bail.
