SRU dance department takes stage Sunday
The annual Faculty and Guest Artist concert presented by the Slippery Rock University dance department will be staged twice, once at 2 p.m. and again at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Butler County Community College’s Succop Theater.
The concert will showcase the work of 45 student dancers, eight guest artists, and nine faculty members as well as the Rock Dance Company and the Afro-Colombian Dance Ensemble.
The concert will feature 13 performances, including Rock Dance Company in “Rockin’ at the Hop,” and a swing dance as audience members enter the auditorium.
SRU students taking part as dancers, artists or researchers include Kathryn Hines of Cranberry Township, Victoria Lowrey of Harrisville, and Alyssa Schiffer of Slippery Rock.
Guest artists include Christine Cobb, a board member for Ballet Western Reserve in Youngstown; Alicia Garrity, a 2011 SRU graduate and dancer for Diavolo Dance Theatre; Jacques Heim, artistic director for Diavolo Dance; Bill Jones, guest choreographer; Jenna Riegel, a dancer for the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company; Jennifer Meckley, a 2010 SRU graduate and professor of dance at Ball State University; and Chitra Subramanian, a dancer for DC Dance Troupe.
Faculty taking part in the performance include Nora Ambrosio, Sara Caplan, Jesse Factor, Andy Hasenpflug, Heather Hertel, Jennifer Keller, Ursula Payne, Jaya Mani, Melissa Teodoro and Lindsay Viatori.
