[naviga:h3]Butler County grads grab PAC honors[/naviga:h3]

Three Butler County high school graduates are among the Presidents’ Athletic Conference athletes of the week winners in their respective sports.

Karns City graduate Rebecca Pennington was named Cross Country Runner of the Week. The Chatham freshman placed ninth overall out of 313 runners at Oberlin’s Inter-Regional Rumble Saturday.

Seneca Valley graduate Claire Kocur, a senior defender at Grove City College, was named Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week. Her work at center back helped the Wolverines post road shutouts at Geneva and Bethany.

Mars graduate Maggie Williams, a freshman midfielder for Grove City, was named Rookie of the Week after scoring two goals in a 3-0 win over Geneva. She has seven goals on the season.

[naviga:h3]BC3 volleyball nets 3-0 triumph[/naviga:h3]

BUTLER TWP — Mackenzie Craig had 28 assists Monday night as the Butler County Community College women’s volleyball team defeated Penn State New Kensington, 3-0.

Scores of the match were 25-19, 25-10, 25-23.

Makenzie McDowell had nine kills and Maddie Morella seven for BC3 (15-5), which plays in the WPCC Tournament at noon Saturday.
