County offers events

The following activities are being hosted through the Butler County Parks and Recreation Department:

A Safe Babysitters training class will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 13 at the Slippery Rock Park building, 320 N. Main St., Slippery Rock.

The class is for those age 11 to 15 and emphasizes prevention, safety, responsibility, leadership and professionalism.

Preregistration is required. More information and the opportunity to register are available by calling the county parks and recreation department at 724-284-5383.

A Community Trunk Sale will be from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Alameda Park Masonic Shelter. Admission is free.

A coed dodge ball tournament will be Nov. 3 at the Butler Township dek hockey rink on South Duffy Road.

Team registrations can be submitted at the Alameda Park office near the carousel shelter.

The Alameda Park Monster Mile Family Walk will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 20, starting at the Masonic Shelter.

Participants will walk toward the Odd Fellow Loop, and children will receive a pumpkin at four different stations, where face-painting, craft-making and time on an inflatable structure also will be available.
