BUTLER CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE

Butler Church of the Nazarene, 4410 Oakdale Road and Route 68, will have music on Sunday from Chrisann Green.

Christ Community UNITED METHODIST

Christ Community United Methodist Church, 205 N. Duffy Road, will celebrate communion at both Sunday worship services.

The men’s breakfast is at 8 a.m. Monday at Kings Restaurant, 191 New Castle Road.

The First English Lutheran Church work team will meet at 4 p.m. Monday, and Gal’s Book Club will meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday.

Wednesday Quilters will meet at 9 a.m., and the Bible Study will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

COMMUNITY LIFE

Ladies of Community Life Church, 1104 Pittsburgh Pike Road, will travel to see Jennie Allen in New Castle on her Freedom Project Tour at 6 p.m. Wednesday. Car pool at CLC meeting at 5 p.m. Register at clcbutler.org/events.

COVENANT PRESBYTERIAN

Covenant Presbyterian Church, 230 E. Jefferson St., will have communion during the 11 a.m. worship service Sunday.

The Peace and Global Witness special offering will be received during the 11 a.m. Sunday service.

EAST BUTLER PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH

East Butler Presbyterian Church, Ninth and Randolph streets, will host a bluegrass/gospel jam at 7 p.m. Sunday. Participants are welcome to take instruments, as well as refreshments to share.

FAITH UNITED PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH

Faith United Presbyterian Church, 1329 N. Main Street Ext., has Sunday school at 9:30 a.m. followed by a 10:30 a.m. worship service.

The annual peace offering will be collected.

During the week, the AA group meets at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Weight Watchers meets at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Wednesday, 10 a.m. Oct. 11 and 8:30 a.m. Oct. 13.

FIRST BAPTIST

The Sunday schedule for First Baptist Church, 221 W. New Castle St., is an 8:30 a.m. prayer service followed by a 9:15 a.m. breakfast, 9:45 a.m. Sunday school classes, and 11 a.m. worship service.

FIRST ENGLISH LUTHERAN

First English Lutheran Church, 241 N. Main St., welcomes special visitors at the 10 a.m. Sunday worship service. The pastors of Community 341, a new church community in the Southwestern PA Synod of the ELCA will give a brief presentation about their ministry in the Pittsburgh Brookline neighborhood.

The Good Samaritan Flower Pot will be at the back of the sanctuary for donations to help those in need.

The Butler Area Lutheran Ministries Youth will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 120 Sunset Drive, Center Township.

GRACE @ CALVARY LUTHERAN

Grace @ Calvary Lutheran Church, 123 E. Diamond St., has Ladies’ Night Out at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Rock Ann Haven, 141 Greenwood Drive. All ladies of all ages are invited.

Grace’s Youth are invited to the BALM Youth Group evening at First English starting at 7 p.m. Sunday.

The property committee meets at 6 p.m. Tuesday, followed by the finance committee at 6:30 p.m. and the worship and music committee at 7 p.m.

BALM (Butler Area Lutheran Ministries) has a general, all-church meeting at 7 p.m. Oct. 11 at Rider Lutheran Church, 189 Rider Church Road, West Sunbury. All are welcome to attend and to plan for BALM’s next activities together.

HILL UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

Hill United Presbyterian Church, 501 Second St., observes World Communion Sunday at the 10:30 a.m. worship service.

The Hill Quilters meet at 9 a.m. Friday in the fellowship hall.

The women’s book club will meet 12:15 p.m. Sunday.

Winter coats will be collected Sunday and Oct. 14 to support the “Bundle Up Butler” project.

INTERSECTION

Locking Arms Men’s Ministry of the Intersection Church, 120 Walker Ave., meets from 6:45 to 8 a.m. Wednesdays at Mac’s Route 8 Cafe, 16 Pittsburgh Road, and from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursdays at Kings Restaurant, 191 New Castle Road.

The church celebrates Holy Communion at the 10 a.m. Sunday worship service.

MARS UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

The youths of Mars United Presbyterian Church, 232 Crowe Ave., will participate at Mars Applefest on Saturday with free pumpkins to decorate.

Sunday is Worldwide Communion Sunday at both services with guest minister, Lay Pastor Tom McMeekin.

The youth group meets at 7 p.m. Sunday in the youth room.

GriefShare will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday in the Library Room.

NIXON UNITED METHODIST

Nixon United Methodist Church, 334 Airport Road, will have a traditional service at 8:30 a.m., Sunday school for all ages at 9:45 a.m., a blended service at 11 a.m., and a modern More service, with child care, at 7 p.m.

OLD UNION PRESBYTERIAN

Old Union Presbyterian Church, 200 Union Church Road, Mars, begins membership classes Oct. 14. If interested, speak with Peter.

October is Pastor Appreciation Month.

The deacons are collecting gently used winter coats for Bundle Up Butler until Oct. 14. There is a particular need for boys sizes 8 to 18. Donations may be placed in the coat closet in the social hall.

SAINT ANDREWS UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church, 201 E. Jefferson St., observes World Communion Sunday during the 10:30 a.m. worship service.

A Blessed Be the Tie That Binds Fall Service and Supper will be at 4 p.m. Sunday to enable homebound members an opportunity to attend church. The service will include a hymn sing and communion. A dinner will be served in the Memorial Room following worship. Contact the church office if transportation help is needed.

The October Mission Offering of Saint Andrews goes to the McKee Memorial Fund to support the work of PCUSA mission co-workers Jim and Jodi McGill in Niger and South Sudan where they work in water/sanitation and health. To help support them, use the envelope marked “McKee Missions Offering” in the October section of your envelope booklet or use a “First Sunday Mission Offering” envelope from the pew racks.

SPRINGDALE LUTHERAN

Springdale Lutheran Church, 1061 Mahood Road, West Sunbury, welcomes the Rev. Dennis E. Protzman as guest pastor at the 11 a.m. Sunday worship service.

The next council meeting is 5:30 p.m. Monday. All members are welcome.

ST. JOHN'S LUTHERAN

St. John’s Lutheran Church of Connoquenessing, 100 Main St., will have Pastor Gary Brown back in the pulpit serving.

Communion will be observed during the 11 a.m. Sunday worship service.

The October Cause of the Month is the ELCA Lutheran Disaster Response Initiative to assist with local needs due the flooding that has occurred in the local area.

ST. LUKE’S LUTHERAN

The Outreach Ministry of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 310 W. Main St., Saxonburg, leads the 2 p.m. Sunday worship at Elmcroft Assisted Living, 100 Bella Drive, Saxonburg.

The Study on Prayer begins at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Koinonia Café.

Wednesday, the Stars will meet at noon, and the Women’s Group meets at 6 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall.

ST. JOHN’S LUTHERAN

St. John’s Lutheran Church, 420 Beaver St., Mars, will have ladies craft night at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Sign up on the sheet in the greeting area. The fee must be paid in advance.

The quilting group meets at 6 p.m. Monday at Cindy Knauff’s house in Valencia.

TRINITY LUTHERAN

The BALM men’s ministry breakfast will be at 8 a.m. Saturday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Prospect.

Trinity Lutheran Church, 120 Sunset Drive, will have a trunk sale from 8 p.m. to noon Saturday.

The BALM youth group will meet at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at First English Lutheran Church, 241 N. Main St.

The stewardship committee meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The executive committee meets at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday, followed by the outreach committee at 6:30 p.m. and the property committee at 7 p.m.

VALENCIA PRESBYTERIAN

Valencia Presbyterian Church, 80 Sterrett St., celebrates World Communion Sunday and welcomes Don Dawson to the pulpit as the guest preacher Sunday.
