Rockets at 9-1 after 3-1 triumph

Ellie Reiser got Slippery Rock on the board first and goalkeeper Julia Hart made a critical save in the first half Saturday, leading the Rockets to a 3-1 girls soccer victory at Seneca.

Reiser scored midway through the first half off an assist from Amanda Lewis. Hart made a diving fingertip save late in the half to protect the lead. She had five saves in the contest.

Kayla Daugherty added a goal for the Rockets (9-1, 4-0) in the second half. Daugherty assisted on a later goal by Emily Raine.

The Lady Rockets return to action Tuesday, hosting Grove City at 6 p.m.

Hampton 2, Knoch 1 — Lindsie Galbreath scored the lone goal for the Knights (1-9-1, 1-6-1), who gave up the game-winning goal with just over four minutes left. Gabby Oskin assisted on Galbreath's goal.

Lauren Galbreath made eight saves in goal for Knoch, which hosts Mars Tuesday.

Boys Soccer

Karns City (12-0) remained undefeated with an 8-0 victory over Forest. Dakota King scored three goals.

Austin Fahlor added a pair of goals for the Gremlins. Owen Collwell, Nate Rondinelli and Brayden Christie all scored one. Jake Weckerly made three saves in recording his sixth shutout.

Hockey

Cody Reep and Kyle Grasha both had a goal and assist for Butler's junior varsity in a 9-4 loss to Franklin Regional.

Jake Longdon and Mathew Hile also scored for the Golden Tornado (1-1). Zachery Zito had three goals and an assist for Franklin Regional.

Private Schools

Jackson Vosmaer scored four goals to lead Porterville Christian School to an 8-0 soccer win over Erie First Christian.

Audrey Shandick, Madison Dickinson, Emma Van Gent and Christian Cater added a goal each for PCS (13-1).
