SV girls hold on, edge Butler, 3-2

Seneca Valley's Bre Valentovish (32) gets congratulated by teammates after scoring against Butler during the Raiders' 3-2 girls soccer victory Monday night at NexTier Stadium.

JACKSON TWP — Seneca Valley was able to place heavy fire on Butler's net early on in Monday's Section 4 girls soccer meeting at NexTier Stadium.

It was just a matter of time before the onslaught paid off.

Breana Valentovish scored in the 17th minute and teammate Julia Redilla did so less than five minutes later. The Raiders' lead reached 3-0 by halftime before SV held on for a soggy 3-2 victory over the Golden Tornado.

The Raiders (7-1, 5-1) managed four corner kicks in the first 18 minutes of the game. A little help from Mother Nature didn't hurt.

“We had the wind with us in the first half and knew we had to get a lead with that,” said Seneca Valley coach Mark Perry. “Fortunately, we were able to get three goals.”
