Woman sentenced for overdose death of co-worker

Tedilee Sweeney of Arnold, plead guilty in connection with a 2016 overdose death in Saxonburg.

After being sentenced Thursday for involuntary manslaughter, Tedilee Sweeney tearfully apologized to the family of a Saxonburg man who overdosed from drugs she provided him with.

President Judge Thomas Doerr accepted a plea deal from Sweeney and sentenced her to 30 months of intermediate punishment with the first 12 months to be served under house arrest. Sweeney must also complete community service.

Drew A. Lydick was 35 when he died on Aug. 15, 2016, from what an autopsy revealed to be a “combined drug toxicity” of fentanyl, antihistamine hydroxyzine, anxiety drug buspirone and antidepressant mirtazapine.

Saxonburg police said Sweeney and Lydick worked together at a Super Cuts in Allegheny County and she provided him with heroin that was found to contain fentanyl and led to Lydick’s death.
