Financing for infrastructure bank approved

The county's new infrastructure bank has been given the green light to seek an $8.8 million bank loan to finance projects in four municipalities.

County commissioners at their Wednesday meeting unanimously approved the request of Mark Gordon, the county's chief of economic development and planning, to solicit bank proposals for the amount.

The first municipal loans include $6.4 million for Cranberry Township to divert tractor trailer traffic from Route 228 and Interstate 79 by creating an underpass, sewer improvements and construction of a pump station; and $1.5 million for Butler that would be spent on Main Street lighting, improved electrical conduit, wires and switches, and surface construction for three bridge replacements in the Sullivan Run flood control project.

Marion Township would receive $504,000 for sewer renovation in the Boyers area, and $361,000 would go to West Sunbury for removing ammonia from the water system.

The bank proposals will be solicited by Scott Shearer of PFM Financial Advisors.
