Tirk 40th anniversary
Patrick and Frances Tirk of Butler celebrated 40 years of marriage at a surprise party thrown by their children and extended family.
Tirk married the former Frances Geibel on June 24, 1978, at St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church in Herman.
They have seven children, Patrick Tirk of Butler, Justin Tirk of Butler, Jesse Tirk of Cabot, Jason Tirk of Cabot, Frances Schneider of Butler, Pasqualina Tirk of Chicora and John Tirk of Butler. They also have four grandchildren.
Tirk was a lab tech at AK Steel for 20 years and before that worked at Wise Machine Co. and Cueco in Butler.
He volunteered with many Butler area sports organizations.
Mrs. Tirk worked in many different shops over the years and was a paraprofessional for the Butler School District, various churches, St. Mary School and Butler Catholic School.
The Tirks are members of St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church in Herman.
