Emergency responders had to completely shut down Route 422 in Summit Township after a two vehicle accident involving a tractor-trailer and another vehicle near Carbon Center Road shortly after 5 p.m.

SUMMIT TWP — A collision between a car and a tractor trailer sent one woman to the hospital by helicopter ambulance late Tuesday afternoon.

The woman, who was not identified by the state police, was driving eastbound on Route 422 when witnesses said she started swerving between the eastbound and westbound lanes.

Her car collided with a tractor trailer on 422 near Carbon Center Road. She was wearing a seat belt, but was trapped in her car for about 30 minutes before rescuers successfully extricated her.
