WEXFORD — A five-vehicle accident during rush hour Wednesday morning caused traffic backups for several miles.
The accident occurred around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday on Interstate 79 south near the Wexford exit. Dispatchers said five vehicles were involved, but did not have any additional information.
A text message alert sent out by Cranberry Township just before 8 a.m. notified motorists of delays in the area. Traffic was backed up from the Wexford exit past the Cranberry Township exit, with even further backups on Route 228 to Freedom Road.
The scene was cleared by 10 a.m. Wednesday.
