Traffic stop, bench warrants lead to two arrests

Lindsay Maples

Butler Township police say a traffic stop and two bench warrant arrests last month also turned up dozens of stamp bags of heroin and drug paraphernalia.

Police said Jennifer Young, 37, and Lindsay Maples, 30, were arrested on Aug. 20 at about 12:26 a.m., after an officer following their vehicle on New Castle Road discovered that Young was wanted on a bench warrant out of Venango County.

Police said they pulled the vehicle over off Hansen Avenue, and subsequently discovered that Maples — who allegedly gave police a fake name and had to be identified with a fingerprint scanner — was also wanted on a bench warrant in Butler County.

Police said the women were taken to Butler County Prison and officers seized a blackjack from the vehicle. Officers also obtained a search warrant for the vehicle and found two purses belonging to the women.

Inside Young's purse, police said, officers found 26 stamp bags of heroin, a “nonprescribed” pill, four syringes, a crack pipe, tourniquets, rubber bands and other drug paraphernalia.

Police said Maples' purse contained seven stamp bags of heroin, 45 empty stamp bags, five syringes, a crack pike, rubber bands, a tourniquet and other paraphernalia.
