Tuesday — Wayne C. Boyle, 42, of Butler was charged with failing to return a generator that he rented in June from Kenmac Rentals & Sales on South Main Street.

According to court documents, Boyle on June 2 signed an agreement to lease the 2,000-watt generator. On Aug. 10, the business sent a certified letter to the defendant, seeking return of the property and payment of all charges and fees.

The letter, however, was not claimed and was returned to the sender, police said. Kenmac, in all, is seeking $1,778.68 in restitution.

Boyle is charged with theft of lease property and theft of services.

Thursday — Police charged a Pittsburgh woman with fraudulently accessing a credit card belonging to Life Choices of Kittanning to pay two personal bills totaling $45.58 on July 29 and 31.

The defendant, 28-year-old Jessica M. McCloskey, on Sept. 7 admitted that she obtained information from the credit card while residing at a home in Center Township owned by the support services organization.

She is charged with access device fraud.

Thursday — An Erie County man was charged with being more than 2½ times the state’s legal limit for alcohol stemming from a traffic incident Sept. 7 in Worth Township. Police said they found Gregory M. Lutton, 49, of Corry seated behind the wheel of a vehicle stuck in a ditch on the Interstate 79 on-ramp at Route 108.

Lutton told police, according to court documents, that he was on his way to Hermitage in Mercer County and was trying to turn around when he wound up in the ditch.

He admitted that he had been drinking alcohol and at one point stated, “I am hammered,” documents said.

A breath test subsequently showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.223 percent. A level of 0.08 percent in Pennsylvania is considered intoxicated.

In addition to driving under the influence, he is charged with disregarding traffic lane and careless driving.

Wednesday — Dustin A. Best, 21, of Eau Claire was charged with drugged driving and having marijuana in connection with a February traffic stop in Eau Claire. Police made the stop after they first saw the defendant’s pickup truck moving erratically on Route 58 in Foxburg, Armstrong County.

Troopers said as Best traveled into Butler County, he sped up. Police at one point clocked the vehicle going 67 mph in a 45 mph zone, according to court documents. The truck also crossed the center double yellow line at least twice.

Police eventually pulled over Best on Route 58 at Route 38. He was subsequently searched, documents said, and found with suspected marijuana in two Ziploc bags and in a vape pen. He also turned over a container with suspected THC wax in it.

He failed field sobriety tests and was taken to Clarion Hospital for a blood test, which, according to documents, showed he had marijuana in his system.

Best is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, speeding, driving too fast for conditions, failing to keep right, disregarding traffic lanes, careless driving and not wearing a seat belt.

Tuesday — A Bucks County woman was charged with drunken driving stemming from a traffic stop about 11:25 p.m. Sept. 1 in Slippery Rock.

Police said they stopped Kelsey B. Thoensen, 20, of New Holland for crossing over the center line multiple times on Harmony Road in Slippery Rock Township and on Franklin Street in Slippery Rock.

She was arrested after failing field sobriety tests, according to court documents, and she was taken for a breath test, which showed her blood-alcohol level was 0.094 percent.

Thoensen is charged with driving under the influence, DUI by a minor, underage drinking, careless driving and five counts of failing to keep right.

Tuesday — Police reported they are investigating a recent case of access device fraud that victimized an East Franklin Township couple. The couple told police that someone used their credit card Sept. 6 to make an online purchase totaling $173.

Sept. 7 — Brent A. Nulph, 52, of Templeton was charged with intentionally damaging a sprinkler head last month at the Armstrong County Jail.

Police said Nulph was an inmate Aug. 24 when he vandalized the sprinkler head in his cell, causing the jail block to flood.

He is charged with institutional vandalism.
