KARNS CITY — The Karns City Scholastic Foundation provided Karns City District teachers with $4,000 in grants. The foundation also awarded four student scholarships totaling $8,000.

The grant program has been in existence since 2014 and has funded $12,000 in classroom grants throughout its history. Teacher grants were:

- “Greenhouse Grow,” presented to Dacey Mealey, Chicora Elementary School, $2,000.

- “littleBits of Elementary STEAM,” presented to Kelly Terwilliger, instructional technology, $1,000.

- “An Apple a Day Keeps STEM in Our Day,” presented to Alissa Atwood and Jennifer Hammonds, Sugarcreek Elementary School, $500.

- “Primary Coding,” presented to Dominique Borusiewicz, elementary instructional technology, $500.
