1:02 a.m. Sept. 2 — Police said Brandon L. Owens, 23, of Slippery Rock was charged with drunken driving after he was stopped for speeding and not having his front or back lights activated on Franklin Street.

Police said Owens later failed field sobriety tests and they took him for a breath test that showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.120 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.

In addition to driving under the influence, he is charged with driving with a suspended license, speeding and a lighting violation.

Tuesday — Police reported they have no suspects in last month’s theft of a license plate and canoe rack that were taken from a utility trailer at the boat launch at Lincoln Street and North Bluff Avenue in Parker. The theft happened between 1 p.m. Aug. 3 and noon Aug. 5.

3:43 p.m. Sunday — Isaiah R. Williams, 20, of Chicora was allegedly found rolling marijuana in a cigar leaf while in the passenger seat of a pickup truck at a convenience store on Route 8 in Center Township. Police charged Williams with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Friday — Jeremiah T. Schmidt, 21, of Slippery Rock was charged with drugged driving stemming from a traffic stop last month in Center Township. Police said he was stopped about 9:15 p.m. Aug. for not having his headlights on while traveling on Route 8.

A trooper noticed rolling papers in the center console of Schmidt’s car, according to court documents, and the suspect allegedly admitted that he had recently smoked marijuana.

Schmidt allegedly showed impairment during field sobriety testing and was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test. Toxicology results confirmed he had marijuana in his system. Schmidt is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, careless driving, a lighting violation and not wearing a seat belt.

,h3>State Police, New Castle[/naviga:h3]

Wednesday — Police reported they are investigating last month’s break-in of two trucks and a car at a home in the 4900 block of Old Route 422 in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County. The break-in happened the night of Aug. 12 or the morning of Aug. 13.

A purse along with about $500 in currency and other personal items were taken from a car belonging to a 64-year-old woman. Both trucks, owed by a 69-year-old man, were ransacked but nothing was taken.

[naviga:h3]State Police, Punxsutawney[/naviga:h3]

Friday — The state police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement cited a Butler County bar for allegedly violating state liquor law in July. According to a police report, Cheers in Jefferson Township on July 29 allegedly furnished alcohol to a minor. An administrative law judge will hear the case.
