SR soccer rolls, 5-0

Knoch, Butler, A-C Valley win in volleyball

Five different players scored goals for Slippery Rock Monday in the Rockets' 5-0 girls soccer win at Grove City.

Emily Raine, Emily Sarver, Ellie Reiser, Kayla Daugherty and Hannah Burtner all scored in the victory. Grove City was limited to one shot on goal.

The Rockets return to action Wednesday, hosting Conneaut (Ohio).

Boys Soccer

Cole Bennick scored two goals while Hunter Hardin added a goal and two assists in Freeport's 6-4 home win over St. Joseph.

Addison Stewart, Daniel Lynch and Tanner Hoschied also scored for the Yellowjackets (3-2, 1-1), who received four saves in goal from Luke Heider.

Girls Volleyball

Kennedy Christy (16) and Hannah Rowe (13) dominated at the net by combining for 29 kills as Knoch blew past Avonworth in a non-section match, 3-0.

Kerrie Fitzpatrick totaled 38 assists and 10 service points and Kenzie Kerkan 14 service points for the Knights (3-0), who dropped the Antelopes by scores of 25-13, 26-24 and 25-13.

Butler 3, Shaler 2 — The Golden Tornado survived this five-set thriller on the road by scores of 25-21, 24-26, 25-11, 20-25 and 21-19.

Maria Lucas had 14 kills and 19 digs in the win. Julia Gibson added 11 kills and two blocks and Heidi Gross had nine kills for Butler (1-1).

Greenville 3, Karns City 0 — The Gremlins lost games 27-25, 25-10, 25-20. No individual statistics were reported.

A-C Valley 3, Sharpsville 0 — Olivia Boocks had 12 service points, four aces, nine kills and six digs as the Falcons swept Sharpsville, 25-12, 25-12, 25-12.

Emily Wetzel also had a big night with 15 points, three aces, 10 digs, 18 assists and six kills for A-C Valley (1-0).

Kylee Eaton pitched in 13 kills, four aces and seven digs in the winning effort.
