Quick goals send KC boys to 5-2 win

Dakota King scored three goals Saturday as the Karns City boys soccer team defeated Brookville, 5-2.

Austin Fahlor and Brayden Christie also scored for the Gremlins. KC scored three goals in the game's first five minutes.

Jake Weckerly recorded four saves for the Gremlins.

Knoch 3, Freeport 1 —Jeremiah Smith scored two goals and Nathaniel Webb one for the Knights.

Volleyball

Butler placed third in the 20-team Moon Tournament on Saturday, bowing to the hosts in the semifinal round.

The Golden Tornado went 6-0 in pool play, then defeated Burrell and North Hills before losing to Moon. Sophia Sacriponte had 18 kills for Butler.

Sophia Lucas added 17 kills and 26 digs, Tabitha Walker 16 kills and 39 digs, Hope Fiorina 37 digs. Maria Lucas had 14 kills and 16 digs in being named to the all-tournament team.

Butler plays at Shaler Monday, at North Hills Tuesday and hosts North Allegheny Thursday.

Girls Soccer

Kayla Daugherty scored the lone goal of the game on her first shot as Slippery Rock defeated Fairview, 1-0, Saturday.

Julia Hart had 10 saves for the Rockets, who play Monday at Grove City.

Apollo-Ridge 2, Freeport 1 — The Yellowjackets had a 25-2 edge in shots, but lost this game in overtime. Sidney Shemanski scored for Freeport.
