Tractor accident victim trapped for an hour

CENTER TWP — A middle-aged man was flown to a Pittsburgh hospital on Saturday night after his utility tractor rolled over and pinned him.

Nathan Wulff, chief at the Unionville Volunteer Fire Department, said firefighters responded to the Jamisonville Road home just before 6:30 p.m. to find the utility tractor on top of the man at the bottom of a hill.

The unnamed man was operating the machine on his property when he drove onto a steep hill. The utility tractor then rolled over and landed on top of the man.

Wulff said the victim's arms were pinned by the upturned machine, which prevented him from escaping. He estimated the man was in his 40s or 50s.

Specialty equipment was used to safely lift the tractor off the man, which Wulff said took firefighters about 10 to 15 minutes to complete. He said the man was trapped for almost an hour total.
