Tyler Protivnak

Tyler J. Protivnak received a bachelor's degree in computer engineering summa cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh.

Protivnak is a 2014 graduate of St. Joseph High School in Natrona Heights.

While at the University of Pittsburgh, he amassed a GPA of 3.9 and was a member of Eta Kappa Nue IEEE Honors Society, the National Society of Leadership and Success Sigma Alpha Pi and was a nominee for top ECE student of the 2018 graduating class.

He lives in Butler.

He is the son of Larry and Marlene Protivnak of Butler.

The Armco Credit Union gave 10 graduating seniors scholarships totaling $5,000.

The recipients and their parents met for an award ceremony luncheon, where they were presented an award and recognized for their achievement.

The scholarship winners were: Makayla Waltman of Karns City High School, Sarah Schmidt ofSlippery Rock High School, Kathleen Marsili of Springdale High School, Lacey Blauser of Moniteau High School, Collette Grossman ofMoniteau High School, Samantha Roth of Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School, Jill Ford of Butler High School, Caleb Robb of Knoch High School, Nichole Sommers of Mars High School and Brayden Wilson of Karns City High School.

ADAMS TWP — Mars High School senior Vincenzia Vargo attended the Pennsylvania Governor's School for the Sciences in July and August.Vincenzia was one of 56 high school students from across the state chosen for the academic program, which offered participants an opportunity to join in various courses in biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics and computer science, team research projects, field trips, and a guest lecture series.Participants are selected based on academic achievement, as well as their interest in the sciences and mathematics both in and beyond the classroom.———SCRANTON — Vaibhav Sharma of Cranberry Township and other first-year doctor of medicine students received the first symbol of their new profession as Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine had its 10th annual White Coat Ceremony for the Class of 2022 Aug. 3.
