Middlesex board gives Mill Creek housing plan OK

MIDDLESEX TWP — Supervisors voted Wednesday to approve the Mill Creek planned residential development on State Road near Valley Drive.

The nearly 32-acre development will feature 18 single-family units and 72 multifamily units as well as a clubhouse and a swimming pool.

To alleviate the impact on traffic and safety concerns, State Road will be widened and a bank on the property in question will be cut back to eliminate a reported blind spot.

Before the vote, supervisors fielded questions from residents regarding their concerns, many of which were addressed through the infrastructure improvements.

Other residents raised concerns about the density of the proposed development and its effect on the area.

“This was a rural area. We planned on it being a rural area for time to come,” said David Dishong of Valley Drive. “There’s not 30 acres usable over there. You’re putting 92 homes there ... It’s changing, and it’s not a good change for Middlesex Township.”

The board also heard from several residents during a hearing in July, with some raising concerns about the impact the development would have on traffic, while others spoke in support of the proposal.
