Explosion destroys Cherry Twp. home

No one was injured when oxygen tanks in a Cherry Township trailer home exploded Monday night.

An explosion rocked West Sunbury Road Monday night after officials say oxygen tanks exploded and completely destroyed a trailer home.

Luckily the residents were staying at another family member's house when multiple tanks stored at the home exploded around 11:30 p.m.

John Bunyan, first lieutenant of the West Sunbury fire department said he heard the explosions while at the firehall.

The house was fully engulfed in flames by the time firefighters arrived on scene, according to Bunyan.

He said it took about fifteen minutes to extinguish the flames.

The home is a complete loss.

Fire departments at the scene include West Sunbury, Marion Township, Slippery Rock, North Washington. Butler Ambulance was also on scene.
