Flooded bathroom leads to drug arrest

Deandre T. Moore

A flooded bathroom led to a felony drug arrest this week at a Butler apartment building.

The “victim” of the leak, Deandre T. Moore, 37, of Philadelphia, remains in the Butler County Prison on $75,000 bail.

Butler police said they were called Monday to the building after the owner responded for a report of flooding in one of the bathrooms that was causing a leak in the apartment below it.

The owner went into the apartment to inspect the flooded bathroom and noticed several hypodermic needles and other drug contraband, according to court documents.

He also found two people sleeping on the floor; neither was on the lease.

Patrolman Nathan Shulik got there and spoke to Moore, one of the people in the apartment. The officer learned he was wanted on a bench warrant out of Philadelphia, police said.

The defendant was arrested and searched, and found with a “large amount of crack cocaine” in one pocket of his shorts, Shulik said in his affidavit.

The suspected crack, which weighed 16.32 grams, was packaged in 28 “baggie corners,” documents said.

District Judge William Fullerton arraigned Moore on a felony charge of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and a misdemeanor charge of possession of a controlled substance. His preliminary hearing is set for Aug. 20.
