Police raid West New Castle Street home

County narcotics officers raided an apartment at house on West New Castle Street Wednesday night.

County narcotics officers Wednesday night arrested an Allegheny County man and seized about 20 grams of suspected crack cocaine and a gun with an obliterated serial number, following a raid at an apartment in Butler.

Michael G. Medley, 36, of East Pittsburgh is being held in Butler County Prison on felony drug possession and weapons charges.

The arrest followed a July investigation by the Butler County Drug Task Force into the alleged sale of crack at the apartment on the 300 block of West New Castle Street and by the defendant, authorities said.

The task force about 8 p.m. executed a search warrant at the home, where they found Medley hiding in the living room closet.

The search turned up four baggies containing suspected crack, a loaded 9 mm pistol with the serial number removed, $2,076 in currency, a digital scale and other drug paraphernalia.

Officers by chance also arrested two other wanted men in a neighboring apartment after one of them apparently heard the raid and tried to run.

One man was wanted by state parole authorities and the other was wanted on a warrant by Wilkinsburg police.
