Cycle riders hurt in accident

MUDDY CREEK TWP — Two motorcycles traveling north on Route 19 slid on loose gravel, requiring one passenger to be lifted out via helicopter and another to be transferred by ambulance, according to the driver of one of the motorcycles.

Two married couples were on the motorcycles, according to Chris Alles, one of the men involved. Alles and his wife, Roxane, slid some, but he said their accompanying riders fared worse.

Troy and Debbie Green required medical attention; Troy more than his wife. He was air-lifted from the scene, while Debbie Green left in an ambulance. Roxane Alles accompanied her in the ambulance, Chris Alles said.

The accident occurred around 2:30 p.m. Friday on Route 19 near Lake Arthur Estates.

“He was pretty scraped up. I don’t know if anything was broken or not,” Chris Alles said, when talking about his friend.

Scrapes were visible on the side of Chris Alles’s motorcycle, but it appeared to still be ridable.

Ambulance and fire services from Portersville responded to the incident.

The group was surprised to find new, loose gravel on the road without seeing any signs warning of the rocks. Chris Alles said they would’ve avoided the route had they known, calling the lack of signage “ridiculous.”
