Butler Little Theatre’s Summer Youth Production of “Treasure Island” opens Thursday and runs through Sunday at the BLT, One Howard St.

Curtain is at 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.

The Saxonburg Volunteer Fire Department’s annual carnival continues through Saturday in the borough.

The carnival schedule includes the Fireman’s Parade on Thursday.

The rides are open from 6 to 11 p.m. each day.

The carnival is the fire department’s annual fundraising event.

Horse Trading Days in Zelienople opens today and runs through Saturday in the borough.

Activities include Little Miss Horse Trader pageant, Zelie Idol karaoke contest, Round-Up Horse Parade, Hot-to-Trot 5K Run/Walk & 1 Mile Fun Run, and a corn hole tournament.

Music will feature James Drakes & the Chris Taylor Trio, No Bad JuJu, Sydney Hutchko, the H-Z Jazz Band, and Blame the Whiskey.

[naviga:h3]Riverfest returns[/naviga:h3]

The 33rd East Brady River Fest will feature events Friday and Saturday along the Allegheny River.

Festivities will include a parade, live music, fireworks, as well as a Beautiful Baby Contest, a Precious Pet Contest and pageants.

Events run from 6:30 to 11 p.m. Friday and start at 10 a.m. Saturday ending with fireworks at 10 p.m.

[naviga:h3]‘Birdie’ cast announced[/naviga:h3]

The Butler Summer Dramatics Project has announced the cast for its upcoming production of “Bye Bye Birdie.”

Playing the role of Albert Peterson will be Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School student Zane Gagliardi.

Feisty secretary Rose Alvarez will be played by Annmarie Lowerre, a sophomore at Youngstown State University.

The part of Conrad Birdie will be portrayed by Waylon O’Donnell, a senior at Ashland University in Ohio.

Rounding out the cast is Jerrod Hull as Mr. McAfee, Dory Shearer as Mrs. McAfee, Tishy Hornsby as Kim McAfee, Morgan Oesterling as Randolph McAfee, and Rania Rashid as Mrs. Peterson.

An ensemble of 55 is also featured in the production.

The show is being co-produced by Kathy Campbell and Jeanne Spafford,

Gordon Cavalero directs. Debbe Picerno is the musical director, and Annmarie Lowerre is the choreographer.

Show dates are Aug. 2, 3 and 4 at 7:30 and Aug. 5 at 2:30 at the Succop Theater on the campus of Butler County Community College.

Tickets are $15 for premium center seats and $12 for seating in side sections, available at May’s Music Shoppe. All seats are reserved.

[naviga:h3]Farm show Aug. 6-11[/naviga:h3]

The Butler Farm Show is scheduled Aug. 6-11 at the Farm Show grounds on Route 68 in Connoquenessing Township. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.

In addition to animal and agricultural exhibits, features include live music, truck and tractor pulls, auctions, demonstrations, races and a giant sundae.
