FREEPORT, Armstrong Co. — A fireworks display on Saturday will shut down the borough’s marina at 12:45 p.m., but the boat launch will be available at no charge.

The Freeport International Baseball Invitational is hosting the fireworks.

Chuck Sarver, Invitational president, said the marina will reopen at 12:30 a.m. Sunday.

The invitational will see a Puerto Rican youth baseball team compete. The team has struggled to stay together after the devastating hurricanes that slammed the islands last year and took out ball fields and power.

The Invitational has set up a gofundme.com page to raise money to bring the team to Freeport. Any donations will be appreciated.
