High tolls

So, the all-powerful Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission has raised tolls for the eleventh consecutive year. Is it just me, or does that sound like the height of excessiveness with no checks and balances?

The most expensive turnpike in the country that is perpetually, and I’ll add suspiciously under repair, just became more expensive.

Drivers have no recourse other than to not use the highway. That’s hardly a realistic option. There is a river of money flowing through turnpike toll booths that I suspect is not only funding the golden parachutes of commission big-wigs, but lining the pockets of their cronies in the building trades.

We get the benefit of endless delays and the cheapest possible materials known to man which, of course, will need replaced in two years.

It’s a beauty of a scam if you’re on the inside.
