[naviga:h3]Rettig reunion slated for park[/naviga:h3]

The Adam Rettig Sr. annual family reunion will begin at 2 p.m. Aug. 5 at the Butler Memorial Park Rotary Shelter.

Family members are asked to take gifts for bingo prizes. Instead of white elephant gifts, place $1, $2 or $3 in an envelope and drop them into a box that will be provided. Take a well-filled picnic basket and table service. Soft drinks, meat, and chicken will be provided.

Dinner will be served at 5 p.m. and will be followed by a business meeting. For more information, call Gerald Rettig at 724-287-7467.

[naviga:h3]Dog show returns to Lund center[/naviga:h3]

JEFFERSON TWP — Concordia at Cabot Lund Care Center Activities Department will host its 18th Annual Dog Show at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 16 in the Lund Care Center backyard, 134 Marwood Road.

“Dog Days of Summer” is free and open to the public and will feature a number of dogs of Concordia employees, residents and families competing in best performer, best groomed, most obedient and most friendly categories. Several residents serve as judges for the event.

[naviga:h3]School district will honor vets[/naviga:h3]

JACKSON TWP — The Seneca Valley School District is again organizing a Veteran Recognition Day during the Sept. 7 Raider football home game.

Seneca Valley will recognize veterans and active military personnel who live in the Seneca Valley School District.

Before warm up, at 6 p.m., veterans will once again join the football team in the locker room to adhere American flag stickers to the players’ helmets. Then, during a 7 p.m. pre-game ceremony, those veterans present will gather on the NexTier Stadium track and be recognized for their service. They will also receive free admission and special seating and parking accommodations for the game.
