2 flown to hospital after motorcycle crash on Route 422

The motorcycle struck the truck and skidded off the road into a refrigerator sitting on the curb, according emergency personnel at the scene.

FRANKLIN TWP — Two STAT MedEvac helicopters transported two people involved in a motorcycle crash on Route 422 in Franklin Township this afternoon in front of Case's Beer Distributor.

The wreck occurred at 4 p.m. according to emergency dispatch reports.

According to a member of the Prospect Volunteer Fire Department, the accident occurred when motorcycle attempted to pass a truck on the shoulder of Route 422. The motorcycle struck the truck and skidded off the road into a refrigerator sitting on the curb, the firefighter said.

A driver in a vehicle behind the motorcycle said that there were two people on the bike and that both were placed into the helicopters. Another driver said neither victims were wearing helmets or any kind of protective gear.

As of 5:20 p.m., Route 422 has reopened to traffic.
