Jennings Environmental Education Center, Route 528, Brady Township, will be the site of “Fireflies!” at 8:30 p.m. Saturday and Celebrate the Bloom! on July 28.

Moraine State Park, Muddy Creek Township, will be the site of demonstrations at Muddy Creek Oil Well from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday on Park Road. “Salamander Safari” will be offered at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Old 422 Boat Launch by Region 2 Office. A full moon kayaking event will begin at 8 p.m. July 27; registration opens Monday. Call the park office at 724-368-8811. A Watercolor Wednesday is planned for 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday from the Owlet Gift Shop, North Shore. “Industrial History of Moraine and McConnells Mill” goes on at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the State parks Region 2 Office conference room, 195 Park Road. And a program on “Fireflies!” is set for 8 p.m. July 19 at Pavilion 5 in the Lakeview Area.

McConnells Mill State Park in Slippery Rock Township, just over the county line into Lawrence County off Route 422, has the gristmill open from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays until Labor Day. Interpretive Tours are offered at 1 and 2 p.m. and by appointment. Admission, parking and tours are free. A program on the Industrial History of Moraine and McConnells Mill is at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Region 2 Office Conference Room, 195 Park Road, Prospect.

Star Parties, sponsored by the Amateur Astronomers Association of Pittsburgh, will begin at about 8:45 p.m. July 20 and 21, weather permitting, at the Nicholas E. Wagman Observatory in Deer Lakes Regional Park, near the village of Russellton, Frazer Township, Allegheny County. Call 724-224-2510.
