Historical society to host vintage baseball game

The Butler Barons will take on the Allegheny Ironsides in a vintage baseball game Aug. 25 at Kelly Automotive Park. The Barons team, when it last played the vintage game in 2015, included from left, front, Todd Erdos, Steve Hall, Nate McCullough, Josh “Sluggo” Smith and Tyler Friel, and back, Bill Clinefelter, Jim Shearer, Curt Schnur, Randy Collins, Sid Bream and Burt Hollobaugh.

Vintage baseball will return to Butler on Aug. 25, as presented by the Butler County Historical Society.

The Allegheny Ironsides and the Butler Barons are going to play by 1860s rules with vintage equipment.

There will be entertainment inspired by the 1860s throughout the game.

The concession stand will be open for this event.

Some members of the Butler Barons team are Matt McCune, Todd Erdos, Tyler Friel, Brian Zima, Steve Hall, Randy Collins, Nate McCullough, Burt Hollobaugh and Josh “Sluggo” Smith.

Gates will open at 5:45 p.m., and the game will start at 7 p.m. at Kelly Automotive Park.

A game like this was last played in 2015 at the park.

Tickets are available at the historical society office, 123 W. Diamond St., or at the baseball park, 100 Pullman Park.

Tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for senior citizens and students. Children 9 and younger are admitted free.

Proceeds from this event benefit the Butler County Historical Society and Historic Pullman Park.
