CHICORA — Zion Lutheran Church, 266 Zion Church Road, will host its sixth annual Car Cruise from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Dash plaques will be given to the first 20 entries. There will be trophies for Best of Show and Peoples’ Choice. Prizes will be awarded at 4 p.m.

There will also be live entertainment, raffle baskets and a 50/50 drawing.

The Butler High School Class of 1971 is having a 65th birthday party picnic starting at 3 p.m. July 28 in at the American Legion in Lyndora.

All classmates and spouses are invited. Picnic food (hamburgers and hot dogs) will be provided and it’s BYOB. Take a favorite side dish to share.

[naviga:h3]Hospital offers student grants[/naviga:h3]

NATRONA HEIGHTS — Sept. 1 is the deadline to apply for Allegheny Valley Hospital’s medical scholarship grants.

The hospital medical staff is offering two $2,500 grants to students enrolled in an approved American medical or osteopathic school.

Eligible applicants must be residents of Butler, Allegheny, Armstrong or Westmoreland counties and have not received a prior AVH medical scholarship grant.

A letter must be submitted to request scholarship consideration, explaining why the applicant should be awarded the grant. In addition, applicants are required to have a letter sent from their educational institution stating they are in good standing.

Letters should be sent to: Allegheny Valley Hospital, Medical Staff Office, Medical Scholarship Grant, 1301 Carlisle St., Natrona Heights, PA 15065 or faxed to 724-226-7464.
