State police say they had to Taser a 68-year-old Cabot man following an early Sunday morning vehicle pursuit in Butler.
The defendant, Joseph H. McKain, later offered arresting officers a possible explanation for his actions: he didn’t want to get another ticket.
He ended up getting more than a ticket.
Police said they initially tried to stop McKain for erratic driving about 1:45 a.m. in the area of Route 8 in the city.
The defendant eventually stopped on North Jackson Street, documents said, when he apparently noticed more police cars joining the pursuit. But he refused to get out of his pickup truck.
Police said two troopers moved in and removed him but he continued to resist. One of the troopers deployed his Taser, and McKain was placed in handcuffs.
