Thursday — Someone stole a mailbox from a home on Haysville Road in Fairview Township, police said, before fleeing in an unknown direction.Tuesday — Justin M. Sanderson, 28, of Clay Township was charged with felony shoplifting in connection with an incident in May at the Sheetz store on Route 8 in Mercer Township.Police allege Sanderson on May 30 stole a case of cigarettes from behind the counter while the clerk was distracted, according to court documents.During a June 21 interview at Butler County Prison, where he was being held on unrelated charges, the defendant admitted to the crime, according to court documents. He is charged with a felony count of retail theft.Sanderson was previously booked into the county prison June 18 on charges in two different cases. He is charged in one case with interfering with the custody of children, simple assault, defiant trespass and harassment June 18 in Mercer Township.In the other case, court records showed, he is charged with misdemeanor drug possession May 6 in Butler.He was released from jail June 25 on $15,000 bail, prison officials said.July 2 — John D. Clark, 51, of Center Township was charged with taking a 35-year-old woman's sport utility vehicle without her permission in May. The 2006 Buick Rainier was taken May 13 from the home that the victim and defendant share.Clark is charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle.
