5:22 p.m. Friday — Joshua E. Eck, no age reported, of Butler, was charged with simple assault, harassment and criminal mischief after an incident at a home on Cherry Blossom Drive, Connoquenessing Township. Police said the defendant punched a 35-year-old Butler woman multiple times, pinned her to the ground and caused damage to her vehicle.

4:47 p.m. Friday — One person was injured while another refused transport, in a crash on Dinnerbell Road, Jefferson Township. Police said Lester Byers, 72, of Butler, was driving a riding mower when the mower entered the road from a driveway to cross the street and hit a Harley-Davidson Ultra Classic motorcycle driven by Matthew A. Thomas, 28, of Valencia. Thomas was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital by Saxonburg EMS for unknown injuries. Byers was also injured, police said, but refused transport. Byers was cited with vehicles entering or crossing roadways.

4:16 a.m. Friday — One person was injured in a crash at 706 N. Pike Road, Jefferson Township. Police said Matthew D. Schantz, 28, of Vandergrift, was driving a 2009 Pontiac G6 south, when he failed to negotiate a slight left curve and the vehicle went off the road and hit a tree. Schantz was taken to Allegheny General Hospital by Saxonburg EMS for unknown injuries. Saxonburg fire department also assisted on the scene.

[naviga:h3]State Police, Mercer[/naviga:h3]

June 22 — Joseph Smith, 44, of Pittsburgh, was charged with theft after an incident at Henrick’s Auto Service and Towing in Pine Township, Mercer County. Police said charges were filed and the investigation is ongoing, and the victim is an 89-year-old Cabot woman.

1:23 p.m. June 23 — One person was injured in a crash on Mercer Butler Pike, Liberty Township. Police said Susan E. Rapp, 67, of Butler, was driving a 2015 Mercedes-Benz C300 north when she attempted to pass a 2009 Honda Odyssey driven by Jody K. Hancox, 39, of Grove City. Police said Rapp lost control of her car and hit Hancox’ vehicle, before going off the road, into a ditch, hitting a utility pole and rolling over. The vehicle came to rest on its wheels. Rapp was taken to Grove City Medical Center by Superior Ambulance for unknown injuries. Hancox was not injured, police said. Springfield Township fire department assisted.
