Two crashes reported in Adams Township Saturday morning

Adams Township first responders had a busy morning Saturday, responding to two traffic accidents.

The first wreck occurred at 6:17 a.m. at 1119 Mars Evans City Road, according to Butler County 911 records.

Adams Area Fire District Station 42 responded along with the Callery Fire Department for a vehicle crash with entrapment. Crews had arrived on location and found one vehicle off the road in a ravine with one patient trapped under the vehicle, according to the fire department’s Facebook page.

Evans City Fire was requested to establish a landing zone while crews worked to free the patient, the Facebook post stated. The driver was extricated from the vehicle and life flighted to UPMC Presbyterian hospital in Pittsburgh. The extent of that person’s injuries is currently unknown, Adams Township Police Officer Mandy Mudrick said.

The accident happened some time overnight or in early morning hours but was not discovered until about 6:15 a.m. Mudrick said the driver, whose information was not reported as the incident is still under investigation, told police that he had swerved to avoid hitting a deer, which caused the crash.

As crews were returning in service from the first crash, a second crash was called in at 8:28 a.m. at 108 Brickyard Road of a single vehicle into a house.

Mudrick said the vehicle went off the road and struck the home. No injuries were reported.

The driver’s information in that incident was also withheld, as the incident is still under investigation.

Crews on location ensured there were no structural concerns and controlled hazards, the fire department’s Facebook post states. Mudrick said the home sustained minor structural damage.
