Woman wanted for aggravated assault

Police in Adams Township are looking for a Butler woman they say hit another woman with her car during an argument last week

ADAMS TWP. — Police in Adams Township are looking for a Butler woman they say hit another woman with her car during an argument last week and refused to let a man out of the vehicle who was only trying to give her directions.

Adams Township police Tuesday filed felony aggravated assault, misdemeanor unlawful restraint, terroristic threats, simple assault, defiant trespass, harassment, two counts of recklessly endangering another person and summary reckless driving charges against Erika D. Steighner, 35. As of Thursday afternoon, she was still being sought.

Police said Steighner hit Sylvia Bittel with her vehicle in the 500 block of Beaver Street Extension, Mars, on June 11, and refused to let Mark Metzger out of the car after she asked for his help in finding the home.

Police were initially called to the home after a man, Randall Bittel, reported that his mother, Sylvia Bittel, refused to let him take his OxyContin medication while attempting to leave. Police said the medication was prescribed to him, according to the affidavit of probable cause.

Police said Randall Bittel was found to be wanted on a warrant for fleeing and DUI charges filed by Cranberry Township police from an alleged incident on May 23, and was arrested. He was allowed to call his ride, who was waiting down the street, and advise that person that he was going to jail and no longer needed to be picked up. He later identified that friend as Steighner, police said.

About an hour later, officers were again called to the home for a report of a woman attempting to run over another woman. Both Sylvia Bittel and David Donatelli, who live at the home, reported that Steighner showed up in the driveway with music blaring, and when told to leave she cursed at the couple and refused.
