Monday — Justin R. Manny, 37, of Freeport was arraigned on charges in two unrelated criminal cases.

The defendant in one case is charged with felony shoplifting stemming from an incident last month at the Sheetz store on New Castle Road. He is accused of leaving the store May 10 without paying for four items totaling $7.96.

In the other case, he is charged with giving police a bogus name after they stopped him May 14 for allegedly swiping 12.87 in merchandise from the same Sheetz.

He was arraigned in the May 10 incident on a felony count of retail theft and a summary charge of driving with a suspended license.

In the May incident, he is charged with false identification to police, a misdemeanor, and driving under suspension.

He was given combined $6,000 bail in those cases.

Manny already was in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail on a felony retail theft charge in the May 14 incident. He also was jailed on two bench warrants.

Police in court documents said the defendant has eight prior shoplifting convictions. Because of his criminal record, he is charged in each of the recent cases with felony retail theft.
