Annual social wraps up BLT season

The Butler Little Theatre lowered the curtain on its 77th season earlier this month with its annual business meeting and social.

The board of directors, along with members and volunteers gathered June 9 at Mac’s Route 8 Cafe, 16 Pittsburgh Road, to review the organization’s financial and membership status, hear committee reports and elect board members.

The event was a celebration of the 2017-2018 season and the five shows that were staged. These included “Biloxi Blues”; “Boeing Boeing”; “Other People’s Money”; “The Rise and Rise of Daniel Rocket” and “Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike.”

Actors honored with certificates of recognition for outstanding performances included Molly Miller, Grant Clark, Hannah Walleck, Josh Donovan and Katy Closkey Wayne.

Certificates of recognition for exceptional work in other areas of the theater were presented to Shaun Donovan, Keith Osborne, Marianne Snider, Lester Malizia, Pat Bell, Alex Barnhart, Rikki Woodling, and Margaret Cahill. Shirley Ann Minehart was awarded the Board of Directors Award.

Phil Ball, Art Black, Bob Craig, Stephanie Kobil and Rik Medic were elected to the 2018-19 board of directors.

Shows announced for BLT’s 78th season include “The Dog Logs” by CJ Johnson; “Jeeves in Bloom,” adapted by Margaret Raether from the stories of P.G. Wodehouse; “Tuesdays with Morrie” by Jeffrey Hatcher and Mitch Albom, based on the book by Albom; “The Dixie Swim Club” by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten; and “Our Town” by Thornton Wilder.

There is an active call for directors and producers for these coming-season shows at bltgroup.org.
