3 earn rank of Eagle Scout

Samuel Lambermont

Samuel Lambermont, 17, of Butler earned the rank of Eagle Scout on March 28 with Troop 16 of Butler.

He will be a senior at Butler High School and is the son of Brian and Jennifer Lambermont of Butler.

For his Eagle Scout project, Lambermont removed a broken-down fence from Cleland Rock in McConnells Mill State Park and replaced it with a new fence that increases visitor safety and enhances the scenic view.

Lambermont has been active in scouting for 11 years and has earned 34 merit badges. He served as scribe, instructor, assistant patrol leader, patrol leader, chaplain, senior assistant patrol leader, senior patrol leader and junior assistant scoutmaster.

He is currently visiting colleges.

Alec Strawn of Valencia earned the rank of Eagle Scout on Jan. 31 with Troop 58 of Cooperstown.He graduated this month from Mars High School and plans to attend Slippery Rock University in the fall as a criminal justice major. He is the son of Brian Strawn and Maureen Strawn of Valencia.For his Eagle Scout project, he constructed an osprey nest platform on an island at Glade Run Lake. Along with the platform, he planted water willows around the island and spread a wildflower mix to attract pollinators to the area.Strawn has been in scouting for 13 years and earned 34 merit badges.He served as a patrol leader, assistant patrol leader, quartermaster and chaplain's aide.

Sean McCarthy, 17, of Cranberry Township earned the rank of Eagle Scout on Jan. 31 with Troop 403 of Cranberry Township.He will be a senior at Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic High School in the fall. He is the son of Rich and Rosemary McCarthy, of Cranberry Township.For his Eagle Scout project, McCarthy designed, planned and then led a group of Scouts and adults in building four wooden benches and a firewood box at the Family Retreat Center, Mars. These benches will be used by youth, some underprivileged or with special needs, during the summer camps at the Retreat Center.McCarthy has been active in scouting for 11 years and has earned 28 merit badges. He has served as patrol leader, assistant patrol leader and quartermaster. He completed BSA National Youth Leadership Training.
