Fresh Thyme chain plans Cranberry site

A Fresh Thyme market reportedly could occupy a space that formerly housed HHGregg in the Cranberry Commons.

CRANBERRY TWP — After opening its first two stores in the Pittsburgh region this week, officials with the Fresh Thyme Farmers Market chain are already planning their next move.

Officials confirmed this week that a store is planned for Cranberry Township some time in 2019. The store focuses on offering farm-fresh products, including natural meat, seafood flown in daily and produce grown locally.

On Wednesday, the company opened two stores near Pittsburgh, including one in Pleasant Hills and another in Bridgeville.

“As a leader in development and expansion in the grocery industry, we are always actively looking for new locations to potentially expand our store footprint,” a company statement said. “We just opened our first stores in the Pittsburgh area and look forward to expanding our healthy, organic food and products all at affordable prices in 2019 with the opening of our Cranberry store.”

The company began operations in 2014, and hopes to have nearly 80 locations across the country by the end of 2018. Company officials said additional information on the Cranberry store would be released in the coming months.

The Cranberry store reportedly will occupy a space that formerly housed HHGregg in the Cranberry Commons. That store closed in 2017 following bankruptcy proceedings.
