Classic horror fans gather for Monster Bash

Daughter of Vincent Price set to appear

MARSHALL TWP, Allegheny County — Monster Bash, the international classic monster movie conference and film festival, returns to the Cranberry Township area this month.

The three-day event will be June 22 to 24 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Pittsburgh-Cranberry, 910 Sheraton Drive.

Monster Bash features screenings of classic films and television shows, question-and-answer sessions with celebrities, music, and monster movie memorabilia.

“There is so much going on over three days that classic movie fans will love ... fun, history, talks, autographs and more,” said program director Ron Adams

Special guests this year will include Victoria Price, daughter of Vincent Price, and Brandy Gorcey, daughter of Bowery Boys/East Side Kids' founding member Leo Gorcey.

“We're so looking forward to hosting more great celebrities and the daughters of two great classic actors,” Adams said. “We love bringing Hollywood screen actors to Western Pennsylvania.”

Other celebrities scheduled to appear include Joyce Meadows, who starred in scores of TV shows and films including “The Brain from Planet Arous,” former child actress Sharyn Moffett who worked on films with Boris Karloff and Cary Grant, and British actress Janina Faye who was in the 1958 film “Horror of Dracula” alongside horror greats Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee.An outdoor screening of the “The Brain from Planet Arous” will be held the night of June 23, weather permitting.“On Saturday night we'll take it outside with a drive-in style movie screening of some 1950s science-fiction films in the hotel parking lot,” Adams said.Fans and collectors also can have their pick of classic movie memorabilia, vintage magazines, monster toys from the 1950s-1960s, rare DVDs and Blu-Rays, Adams said.“It's all packed into Monster Bash,” he said.Hours are 9 a.m. to 2:30 a.m. June 22, 8 a.m. to 2 a.m. June 23, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 24.Admission is charged each day. Joyce Meadows battled “The Brain from Planet Arous,” was in William Castle's “I Saw What You Did,” and appeared in “Breakfast at Tiffany's,” “Wagon Train,” “Perry Mason” and “Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman.” Meadows is scheduled to be part of this month's Monster Bash.
