PITTSBURGH — The world's largest exhibition of Lego art opens Saturday at the Carnegie Science Center.

“The Art of the Brick” exhibition by artist Nathan Sawaya is a critically acclaimed collection of inspiring artwork made exclusively from Legos.

With more than 100 sculptures, “The Art of the Brick” features original artworks and versions of well-known masterpieces including Vincent Van Gogh's “Starry Night,” Leonardo da Vinci's “Mona Lisa” and a 20-foot-long T. rex dinosaur skeleton.

The life-size sculptures are sure to inspire, so visitors also can explore Science of the Brick, a hub for hands-on play featuring 17 activity tables with brick building challenges and interactives, plus free-play and demonstration areas.

The purchase of a ticket to “The Art of the Brick” is required for access to Science of the Brick.

Due to the popularity of the exhibit, timed ticketing is offered.

“The Art of the Brick” will continue through Jan. 7.

“The Art of the Brick” is the inaugural exhibition for the new Scaife Exhibit Gallery, located inside PPG Science Pavilion, a $33 million, 48,000-square-foot expansion at the Science Center. The Scaife Exhibit Gallery, a 14,000-square-foot space, offers the opportunity for Pittsburgh to host large blockbuster touring exhibits that currently bypass the city.

The Science Center is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, call 412-237-3400 or visit CarnegieScienceCenter.org.
