Truth about trout

These comments are intended for anyone who fishes for trout in the Slippery Rock Creek, whether in Butler or Lawrence County.

The Slippery Rock Creek was scheduled to be stocked with trout on May 18th; these trout were allocated for the creek before the season started. The stocking of this creek was canceled again, with the explanation of high water temperatures.

The weather has been cool. The Slippery Rock Creek watershed has been getting lots of fresh rain water.

Why can’t we get these fish stocked? This is two years in a row that this has happened. If you are interested in this issue, please call the Pennsylvania Fish Commission or call your State Representative.
