Karns City graduates 138

Karns City graduates make their way down to the football field for Tuesday's commencement ceremony.

KARNS CITY — The 138 members of the Karns City High School class of 2018 were told to set goals for themselves and be extraordinary in their life pursuits at Tuesday's commencement ceremony.

Class President Samantha Hauser recounted the district titles and other successes achieved by the high school's sports teams for her classmates and the hundreds of family members and friends who filled the football field and bleachers.

“Together we have been one,” Hauser said. “We will always be an extraordinary family of Gremlins.”

She said the class will now share its talents with the world.

“Today we embrace the future. Today we are ready to spread our talents all over the world,” Hauser said.

High honors graduate Sabrina Crawford said the class has talented students who will achieve greatness.

She said many students had grade point averages of 4.0 and higher, vocational technical school students won awards and several classmates are joining the military.

“I think that in the future we will all continue to touch the lives of others,” Crawford said.

Joshua Frederick, another high honors student, said there was a mutual respect between students and teachers, and the kindness of classmates helped him with his class work.“We genuinely care about each other. We are talented and competitive because we push each other to be the best we can be,” Frederick said.“The class of 2018 will achieve their goals no matter where your lives lead you,” said Edwin Conto, high school principal and master of ceremonies.Superintendent Eric Ritzert urged the class to set goals and take steps to achieve them.“Graduates, as you contemplate what the future holds, take advantage of the opportunities life presents you ... Whatever you do and wherever you go, never forget to be extraordinary,” Ritzert said.
