Glade Run Lutheran names top official

Steven Green

ZELIENOPLE — A new president and CEO is coming to head Glade Run Lutheran Services, bringing with him experience in child care, education and program administration.

The Glade Run Lutheran Services board of directors has announced that they have named Steven Green as its new CEO and president, succeeding Charles Lockwood who retired earlier this month.

“Steven Green is the ideal successor to Dr. Lockwood’s unprecedented tenure at Glade Run,” said Brian Kane, chair of the Glade Run board of directors. “Steve has demonstrated a strong business acumen, a deep understanding of behavioral health issues facing families in Western Pennsylvania, and a commitment to serving others.”

Green has worked as a program administer for over 20 years, most recently serving as the CEO of Butler County Children’s Center, Inc. He previously worked for Community Alternatives Inc., Butler County Human Services, MHY Family Services and The Bradley Center.

“Steven Green will add a new level of excellence to Glade Run”, Lockwood said.

Lockwood served as president and CEO since 1989.

Green will oversee dozens of program at eight Glade Run sites including St. Stephen’s Lutheran Academies and will lead the agency’s strategic expansion and growth initiatives, a release from Glade Run said.

Green earned his bachelor’s degree from Slippery Rock University and his master’s degree in counseling from Waynesburg University.

Green will be the 10th president and CEO since the agency was founded as the Orphan’s Home and Farm School by William Passavant in 1854, according to the organization’s news release.

The board chose him from a pool of more than 60 applicants.
