Planets reach PIAA 2A semifinals, 13-6

STATE COLLEGE — Andrew Moyer and Garrett Reinke dominated faceoffs Saturday and Mars advanced to the PIAA Class 2A boys lacrosse semifinals with a 13-6 victory over Palmyra.

Moyer and Michael Doyle scored three goals each for the Planets (19-1). William Scurci made 13 saves in goal.

Hayden Vasbinder and Anthony Grieco scored two goals each for Mars. Reinke, Luke Miller and Cade Hetzler added single tallies. Hetzler had four assists and Reinke three.

Moyer led the Planets with eight ground balls. Vasbinder and Reinke added four each.

Mars will play Strath Haven — a 12-9 winner over Springfield in the quarterfinal round — at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the semifinals at Cumberland Valley. The other semifinal pits Bishop Shanahan against York Catholic at 6 p.m. Tuesday, also at Cumberland Valley.

The winners will meet for the state title at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Zimmerman Stadium in West Chester.
