Child sexual assault case headed to trial
A Butler man charged with nearly 500 counts of sex-related offenses after being accused of sexually abusing a girl over a period of several years was ordered Monday to stand trial.
Garett A. Luttrell, 34, had charges of statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated indecent assault and corruption of minors held to court after a preliminary hearing before District Judge William Fullerton.
All of the charges are felonies.
Luttrell is also charged with numerous counts of misdemeanor indecent assault.
The charges were filed after two young girls in April told county Children and Youth Services workers that Luttrell had been having sexual encounters with one of them, starting when she was 11 years old, for several years.
Fullerton also denied a bond modification request at Monday’s hearing, rejecting defense attorney Devin O’Leary’s request that Luttrell be released to house arrest or have his bond reduced. Fullerton set Luttrell’s bond at $100,000 during his preliminary arraignment May 1.
